FAQ on Infrared Sauna  


Is infrared sauna safe?

Yes it is. Infrared is a naturally occurring output of the sun and does not contain harmful UV rays.  Infrared heat is so safe that hospitals use it to warm newborn infants.  


Can I get burned? 

No, infrared heat is very gentle.  It cannot cause sunburn because it contains no harmful UV rays.  


Why is Infrared Sauna better than a traditional Sauna? 

Traditional saunas heat the air vs. the body directly.  Rather than inducing detoxification and relaxation, this can make the experience unbearably hot and difficult to breathe.  Because infrared heat penetrates human tissue vs. simply heating the surface of the skin, infrared saunas are seven times more effective than traditional saunas at detoxifying the body.  By raising the body’s core temperature, infrared saunas can produce a sweat composed of 20% toxins vs. only 3% toxins with a traditional sauna.  


Can anyone use an infrared sauna?

We do not recommend pregnant women unless they consult their own physician.  For children and elderly we recommend the sauna be operated at a lower temperature for no more than 15 minutes at a time as their body temperature rises much faster.  I’m taking prescription medications, can I still use an infrared sauna? Individuals who are using prescription drugs should seek the advice of their personal physician or a pharmacist for possible changes in the drugs effect when the body is exposed to infrared waves or elevated body temperature. Diuretics, barbiturates and beta-blockers may impair the body’s natural heat loss mechanisms. Anticholinergics such as amitryptaline may inhibit sweating and can predispose individuals to heat rash or to a lesser extent, heat stroke. Some over-the-counter drugs, such as antihistamines, may also cause the body to be more prone to heat stroke.  


Do I have to drink water before using the infrared sauna? 

Yes, we recommend that you hydrate thoroughly before and during use of the sauna.  As your body heats you will sweat and the loss of water can change the electrolyte concentration and can have harmful effects.  Water also helps the body to flush out the toxins.  


Can the infrared sauna help me to lose weight? 

Research has shown that 30 minutes in a sauna will cause a person to burn 500-800 calories which is equivalent to running 3-5 miles.  Much of the weight loss is water weight which needs to be replenished; however, the calories that are burned will not be replenished by the water.

1. In a few sentences, what is the procedure? 

Laser-Like Lipo is safe, painless, and a completely non-invasive treatment for spot fat reduction and aesthetic body contouring. Clients have found hard to reduce trouble spots, such as love handles, tummy bulge, saddlebags and more - are significantly reduced with just a few treatments. Laser paddles target adipose (fat) tissue externally through skin for 10 minutes per treatment area. Results are seen in both circumference measurement and degree of body contour in the area. Clients can optimize their results through multiple treatments combined with cardio type activity post treatment. Studies have found that clients who eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly will experience the best results. However, even clients with sluggish metabolism remark that they experience a unique and invigorating body wake up. It is highly recommended that cardio type activity as well as our complementary whole body vibration session be utilized immediately following their session.   


2. How does the Light work to shrink the fat cells?

 Light energy emitted by the Laser-Like Lipo Light safely penetrates the patient's skin.  At specific frequencies, coherence and power settings, fat cells absorb the electromagnetic energy from the Light. When enough energy is absorbed, transitory (short-lived) pores form on the surface of the fat cells.  Water, glycerol and free fatty acids then leak out of the fat cells and through the body's natural cleansing system are released into circulation to be processed and removed naturally.  This is just like what happens when you exercise. As a result, the fat cells are smaller which results in inch loss, fat loss and often a reduction in the appearance of cellulite.  


3. Don't people have to just diet and exercise to lose weight? 

Losing weight for many is not just about diet and exercise. It is about caffeine, stress, poor sleep, pain, over eating, under eating, wrong kind of exercise, wrong kind of diet and other lifestyle factors. 4. How long does it stay off? 

Not matter what people do, drugs, surgery, pills, potions, or even diet and exercise, if they don't maintain their lifestyle, no weight will ever stay off. This is no different. To maintain weight loss, there is only one way - no matter what you do or don't do. Keep living a healthy lifestyle.   


5. Is there a guarantee? 

If you complete 9 sessions and you do not lose at least 1 inch or more on one measurement with minor lifestyle changes* or noticeable difference in the appearance of cellulite we will give you additional session until you get there. *Minor changes include - not eating for 1 hour before or 3 hours after a session, doing at least mild exercise the day of your sessions, drinking more water, using the included cream, and doing the included detox program. If you complete the sessions and you do not lose at least 2 inches or more in one measurement area with lifestyle changes* or a noticeable difference in the appearance of cellulite we will give you additional session until you get there. *Changes include all of the above, plus burning 500 calories every day you have a session, and eating less than 50 grams of sugars per day for 3 weeks.   


6. Is it safe? 

Absolutely, not a single known side effect to this day. The treatments are completely non-invasive and clients feel nothing but warmth. The devices low level Light technology has been studied and used for over 30 years for many biomedical purposes.   


7. What do patients do to maintain the fat loss? 

Normal things you need to keep weight off - diet and exercise, drinking water and the like. If people go back to overeating and a poor diet they will gain fat back. But unlike other treatments, clients do not need to as much to retain the fat loss benefits.   


8. What kind of results are produced? 

The average in my office is 11 inches in 42 days. We have a range of 7-23 inches in 18 visits. People who make minor lifestyle changes, are on the higher end of the average, and those who don't, the lower end.  


 9. What is involved? 

Initially, 3 sessions a week, for 3 weeks, 7-30 min per session. You relax in a comfortable position while a trained technician places two - eight multi-Light paddles and two smaller Lights to the target areas. Then lay back, relax, read, or whatever you like. Then the vibrating platform for exercise and lymphatic drainage. Most clients choose to take a further 9 sessions, making 18 in total, for best results.   


10. Where does the fat go? 

That fat gets burned as energy in the body, or normal metabolic processing-just like when you exercise and release fat.  


11. How quickly will patients see results?
